Little Trouble in Big China, Now Live

Everything is set up over at my new blog, Little Trouble in Big China.  I really missed using Wordpress, screwing around with code and design has always been fun so I'm not sure why I made the switch to Posterous in the first place.  I made a couple of new posts and will be importing a few of my old posterous posts for nostalgia's sake.   If you booked marked the old szechuan-vultures URL, it should start redirecting you to the new site shortly.  Otherwise, you can now bookmark http://www.littletroubleinbigchina.net.

Little Internet Trouble in Big China

I just watched that movie and was inspired to buy the URL littletroubleinbigchina.net (some loser took the .com and made it stupid).  I've been considering going back to wordpress since Posterous got blocked by the Great Firewall in the fall.  Anyway, I bought it, installed wordpress, and sat down to watch this weekend's episode of SNL.  I just got back to my computer and now the URL comes up with nothing but it works through a proxy and I've confirmed that it works fine in other countries.  Hopefully this is just a glitch and it will work tomorrow, otherwise I'm out $10 and a fully functioning blog.

I'm already having internet issues with the school because they put the kibosh on my personal wireless network, now this crap happens.  I'm not happy.

An unusually sappy thank you to America

I head back to China in about 10 hours.  I haven't written much about this trip since it was supposed to be a surprise visit to some of my friends, mainly Anne, in Morgantown.  It's been a great trip and going back to China is going to be incredibly difficult (partially because Continental Airlines is really lame).  I'd like to take this chance to thank the people that made this trip awesome.  Thanks to my dad and Carolyn for flying me in and letting me use their car to travel around; my mom for taking me to the dentist and not complaining when I came back at 8am after a night on the town in Parkersburg; to Bryn and Jamie for letting me stay with them and drink their coffee and for being awesome; to Baker for having a decent party for once in his life; to Nick, Ben, Stoltz, Rollins, Andy Iafrate and Lukas for coming to visit me from far away places; to Anne and Tank for coming to visit me in Delaware; to Josh for tattooing me and Bryn for making fun of me while I was in pain; to Jimmy for being nice to me after I put chapstick in his hair (super thanks if we get this proxy server thing worked out); to Will for setting up my secret visit to Morgantown; and to Caroline and Ilya for being awesome hosts in Philadelphia; and to anyone else who thinks I need to thank them.  Extra special thanks to Ryan Rollins for now using a hair straightener and still letting me mix gross drinks for him after all these years.

Here are some instant photos of my last weekend in Morgantown.  I've got four or five rolls of Diana photos to get developed once I get back to China so those will be up in a few days.  Also stay tuned to my blog for insights on China vs America and Get Awesome 2.0: Live Free or Get Awesomer with a Vengeance, I'm going to need to step up the exercise routine after 20 days of disgustingly delicious, heart-stopping American cuisine.

Now I have to get ready for the most depressing 24 hour transglobal trip of my life (so far).
